These editorial standards explain how Health Aspire researches, writes, checks and updates its guides. We publish plain-English guides on metabolism, strength, sleep and nutrition for people over 40, so accuracy matters more to us than speed.
Our editorial standards for sources
- We start from the strongest evidence available: systematic reviews, large studies in humans and official guidelines from bodies such as the World Health Organization, the CDC and the National Institutes of Health.
- We find studies through PubMed and read the paper or its abstract, not only the press release.
- We link every source at the end of the guide, so you can check it yourself.
- When the evidence is weak, mixed or early, we say so plainly. Likewise, we point out when a result comes from animals or a very small study.
How we write
- We write for a smart reader who is not a scientist. Numbers are explained in everyday terms, for example “about 1 in 3” rather than “33.3%”.
- Each guide answers the main question first, then explains the detail.
- We avoid hype, miracle claims and fear-based headlines.
Reviews, corrections and updates
- Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed.
- We re-check guides when new guidelines or major studies appear.
- If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. We check every report and fix real mistakes quickly, then update the review date.
Our calculators
Our free health calculators use published formulas and guideline thresholds, and each one shows its method on the page. However, they give estimates for education, not a diagnosis.
Who writes our guides
The Health Aspire editorial team writes and edits every guide. We are not doctors, and our content does not replace medical advice. Talk to your doctor before you change medication, diet or training.
Independence
Some pages contain affiliate links, and we label sponsored articles clearly. Neither ever decides what we recommend. Read our affiliate disclosure to learn more.
